- Welcome the opportunity to examine you own beliefs. In 2 Timothy 3:1417, Paul tells Timothy to study the Scriptures so that he will understand their teachings better.
Now is a good time to write down your beliefs about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and salvation.
- Revive your commitment to God.
- Show love by doing acts of kindnessboth to your friend and to fellow Christians.
John 13:35
Mark 10:45
1 Corinthians 13:2
- Pray and wait patiently for a good opportunity to share your faith.
God is in control. When your friend is ready to hear about your faith, you will know. Until then, pray for your friend.
- Respect your friend, even if you disagree with the beleifs.
Some nonChristians have been told that Christians hate them. They are shocked to discover that a Christian will be their friend. You can have fantastic conversations with people when you've spent time building a friendship.
- Be real!
People know whether or not you are genuinely interested in them as a person.
- Be couregeous and humble!
You don't need to have all the answers to every question or objection. Ask your friend for a little time to think over what has be discussed. You might admit you do not know the answer, but you'll find out. Arrogance make other people dislike you and Christianity.
- Be positive. Don't focus on the negatives all the time.
No one likes to be criticized and nagged. It may take some timeeven yearsfor your friend to make the big decision to accept the truth about Jesus. You may be just one in a long string of people who God uses in this person's life.
